Management

Jerry James | President of artex oil company

Jerry has served as President of Artex Oil Company since 1995. Jerry held positions with Conoco Oil Company and Tenneco Oil Company in Texas, Louisiana and Wyoming and as the founder of James Engineering and a member of E.E. Templeton & Associates. He held the position of President of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association 2011-’12. Jerry is a Registered Professional Engineer in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and West Virginia and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers. He received a B.S. Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College in 1980.

Gene Huck | Vice President of artex oil company

Gene has served as VP of Artex Oil Company since 1995. Gene held positions with Marathon Oil Company and Getty Oil in Louisiana, Illinois and New Mexico and as an engineering consultant and VP with James Engineering, Marietta, OH. He is a Past President of Southeastern Ohio Oil and Gas Association, a Former Member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), and serves on the Executive Committee and Project Review Committee of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association. Gene received a B.S Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College in 1979.

Joe Brooker | president of artex energy group

Joe came on board in 2010 to oversee our Utica Shale assets. We formed AEG in 2010 and established and managed the joint venture with Anadarko Petroleum from 2011-2014. Prior to forming AEG, Joe served as CEO and Director of Storm Cat Energy Corporation, VP and General Counsel of Medicine Bow Energy Corporation and VP of Land and General Counsel of Shenandoah Energy Inc. From 1989-1997, Joe was a member of the Vorys Sater Seymour & Pease LLP law firm in Columbus, OH. Prior to pursuing a law degree, Joe was a petroleum engineer with Marathon Oil Company and the Ohio-based engineering consulting firm of E.E. Templeton & Associates. Joe received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College and J.D. from the University of Cincinnati, College of Law.


EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION

Don Huck | Exploration Manager

Don is from Watertown, Washington County, Ohio, and currently resides in Lancaster, Ohio. Don earned his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College in 1987.  Don currently is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA), the Kentucky Oil and Gas Association, and the Virginia Oil and Gas Association.  Don previously served as a board member of the Kentucky and Virginia Oil and Gas Associations and has served on various committees. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Southeastern Ohio Oil & Gas Association.

Don has served as Exploration Manager for Artex Oil Company since 2005 and is responsible for organizing exploration activities including land and geology/geophysics functions.  Prior to assuming his current role, he held a position as a petroleum engineer with Dowell Schlumberger, and as Production Engineer, Production Superintendent, and Region Manager with Columbia Natural Resources.

Joe Snider | Operations Engineer / Supervisor

Joe is from Somerset, Perry County, Ohio, and currently resides in New Concord, Muskingum County, Ohio.  Joe earned his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College in 2002 where he was a member of Pi Epsilon Tau – Marietta College Petroleum Engineering Honorary.  Joe is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA). 

Joe has served as Operations Engineer / Supervisor for Artex Oil Company since 2011 and served as Drilling and Completion Engineer from 2008 to 2011.  As Operations Engineer / Supervisor, Joe is responsible for the day-to-day field operations, maximization of production, and management of operational expenses.  Prior to assuming his current role, he held positions with CNX Gas Company, Chevron Texaco Mid-Continent Business Unit and Chevron Texaco Gulf of Mexico Business Unit.

Casey Fritz | Mechanical Engineer

Casey is from Chandlersville, Muskingum County, Ohio, and currently resides there.  Casey earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron in 2013.  Casey is a member of Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA) and serves on the Environmental Committee and Safety Committee.  

Casey has served as Mechanical Engineer for Artex Oil Company since 2013, and is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations, and for pipeline systems management. Prior to assuming his current role, he served as an intern for Artex Oil Company.

Heath Halstead | Drilling Supervisor

Heath is from Bradley, Raleigh County, West Virginia and currently resides in New Concord, Muskingum County, Ohio. Heath has earned his Halliburton Drilling Fluid Engineering Training and Certification, Wild Well Control Schooling and Certification, and H2S Safety Certification.  Heath is a member of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA).  

Heath has served as Drilling Supervisor for Artex Oil Company since 2007 and is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the drilling rig.  Prior to assuming his current role, he held positions with Halliburton and Northeast Mud Co.


LAND / LEGAL

Chad Spence | vp business development and general counsel

Chad joined us in 2010. Chad is responsible for asset business development, including industry-partner relationships, contract negotiation and legal. Prior to joining the Artex team, Chad owned a private law practice with a primary emphasis on oil and gas title examination, estate planning and probate in Ohio and West Virginia. He received a B.A. in Business Administration from Marietta College and J.D. from Capital University Law School.

Ethan Bonnette | Landman

Ethan is from Marietta, Washington County, Ohio and currently resides in Waterford, Washington County, Ohio.  Ethan earned his Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Management with a concentration in Land Management from Glenville State College in 2011, where he was a member of the Glenville State College Landman Association.

Ethan has served as a Landman for Artex Oil Company since 2011 and is responsible for taking leases and dealing directly with landowners on a day-to-day basis.  Prior to assuming his current role, Ethan worked for Artex Oil Company as a Roustabout and part-time Landman while attending college.

Terry Hatcher | Landman

Terry is from New Concord, Muskingum County, Ohio and currently resides in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. Terry has earned his Registered Professional Landman (RPL) Certification through the American Association of Professional Landmen. Terry is a member of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA), Southeast Ohio Oil and Gas Association (SOOGA), American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), and the Michael Late Benedum Chapter of the AAPL (MLBC).

Since 2004 Terry has represented Artex in all aspects of Land related activities with landowners including but not limited to the acquisition of oil and gas leases and easements.

Lucas Pattison | GIS Administrator

Lucas is from New Concord, Ohio and currently resides in Zanesville, Ohio. Lucas earned his B.A. degree in German from Muskingum University in 2010.

Lucas has worked for Artex Oil Company since 2011 and has served as GIS Administrator since June 2014, where he is now responsible for the maintenance of lease, well, and pipeline mapping databases as well as the creation of maps for daily operations, acquisitions, divestitures, and capital raise projects.  Prior to assuming his current role, he worked for Artex as a Lease Abstractor and a Landman.

Amy Russell | Land / Legal Administrative Assistant

Amy is from Washington County, Ohio, and currently resides in Belpre. Amy has been with Artex Oil Company since 2006. Her responsibilities include serving as administrative support to the General Counsel as well as the Vice President of Land. Prior to assuming her current role, Amy served for over 20 years in the banking industry.


ADMINISTRATIVE

Jeanetta Fulton | Office Manager

Jeanetta (“Jeanie”) is from Williamstown, Wood County, West Virginia, and currently resides there.  Jeanie has attended Marietta College, West Virginia University – Parkersburg, and Washington State Community College with a program in accounting and business management.  

Jeanie has served as Office Manager for Artex Oil Company since 1995.  Her responsibilities include supervising the Accounting Department, addressing human resource concerns, payroll, employee insurance, corporate accounts payable and accounts receivable, preparing corporate tax filings, and managing the daily functions of the office. Prior to assuming her current role, Jeanie had fifteen (15) years experience in accounting, oil and gas distribution, office management, and executive assistance with companies doing business worldwide.
